hong kong day 5 - shenzhen.

and on Sunday, we were off to Shenzhen before the visa thingy took effect on 1st July. my impression of Shenzhen wasnt and even now, isnt very good. haha. before we left, we were warned by many to look out for pickpockets, counterfeit dollar bills and really aggressive shopkeepers. and all these came true! unfortunately, my fren's fren was pickpocketed while ting received a fake note! it was just so scary being there. we carried our bags in front for fear of getting robbed or pickpocketed. and it seems to be a Singaporean thing cos apparently, no one else does tat in SZ till we met another grp of Singaporeans. haha. it just made me feel more secure though it's also equal to telling others u have valuables in ur bag. haha.

there were ting, khus, ish, chris, simon, johan and ronald. it's a pity tat ash couldnt join us cos he's holding an Australian passport, which means he needs a visa. we took a train from University station to Lo Wu station, where we cleared customs to get into SZ.

upon arrival!

this is Lo Wu station

i've been to China! :p

we spent quite abit of time deciding wad to eat cos we wanted sth tat wun give us stomachache, sth different from HK, and sth tat is cheap. haha. so here's my lunch at a Vietnamese restaurant! 咸鱼炒饭. it was really salty! and after these days, we realise tat the serving size in HK and China are huge. the tour guide also told us tat there is usually meat in every dish. true. according to Wikitravel, there is a saying that the Cantonese will 'eat anything with four legs except a table, and anything that flies except an aeroplane'. hmm.. haha.

we took a bus to Dongmen district. it's supposed to be the best shopping area in SZ. the streets inside look very similar to the ones in Ximending. the stuff there are unbelievably cheap. a top or even dress or bag for like only $5 or $7! but bargaining was really tiring, esp when the shopkeepers were so aggressive. they would pull u by ur arm to stop u from leaving. and 9 outta 10 times, they would call u back once u walk out of their shop and then offer u the price u quoted. then i would be like 'i should have quoted a lower price!!' hahah.

we have arrived!
hey ting.. whoever took this pic doesnt have tat good photography skills either! look at the sign on the bridge.. im gonna show everyone this pic! hahah.

on the way back. nice train!
